Newsletter: 53rd Session of the APO Governing Body

A total of 57 participants comprising APO Directors and advisers representing APO members and observers from partner organisations like the Pan African Productivity Organisation (PAPA) and the Colombo Plan attended the three-day high-level gathering of the 53rd Session of the APO Governing Body (GBM) from 19-21 April 2011 at the Royale Chulan Hotel. This was for the second year in a row hosted by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). The change in the venue from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur was due to the recent earthquake and tsunami which had strucked Japan in March.

Among the key agenda of the GBM was the election of the new APO chair and vice chairs; to receive the Secretary-General’s report and the auditor’s financial report; formulate directions for the ensuing fiscal year’s programme; and approve the budget and financial guidelines, APO total membership contributions for the 2011−2012 biennium and review of the APO thrust and subject areas.
