Klang. 7th May 2015 – In line with the role of enhancing productivity and innovation of the country, Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) together with Northport (Malaysia) Berhad is organising Productivity Day to exchange ideas and share on Lean Best Practices.

Director General of MPC, Dato’ Mohd Razali Hussain said participants from 50 companies around Port Klang and Shah Alam was involved in the programmes to enhance and share results and outcomes of multi-faceted project implementations among the industry players.

”Among initiatives done by MPC is Reducing Unnecessary Regulatory Burdens (RURB) that helped Schlumberger’s Asia Pacific maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub at the PKFZ reduce processing time and red tape for customs processes. Schlumberger choose Malaysia’s PKFZ as its main MRO hub after consolidating its support centres throughout Asia Pacific. The focus group formed of the Royal Malaysia Customs Department, PKFZ Authority, Schlumberger, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and MPC found that the average clearance process time for a single cargo clearance application was 330 minutes. After exploring the possibility of removing non value-added processes and eliminating wastage, the focus group designed an improved process that reduced average cargo clearance time to 45 minutes. ” he said during his speech.

The event also witnessed the handing over of Lean Recognition Certificate to Northport for their leadership and support in promoting Lean Management and recognize their willingness to share their knowledge and experiences with the industries.

Lean refers to a collection of principles and methods that focuses on identifying and eliminating non-value added activities through continuous improvement products and services for the benefit of customers. It is indeed important for organisations to build an environment that can sustain productivity, competitiveness, creativity and innovation

The event also attended by Group Managing Director, NCB Holdings Bhd , Tuan Haji Abi Sofian and CEO of Northport (M) Bhd, Tuan Haji Rubani bin Dikon.
