Perbadanan Produktiviti Malaysia (MPC) bersama Pihak Berkuasa Penerbangan Awam Malaysia (CAAM) sedang dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan produktiviti dan daya saing industri dron di Malaysia melalui inisiatif penambahbaikan proses pendaftaran dan kelulusan permohonan operasi penerbangan dron yang melibatkan kesemua agensi kawal selia yang terlibat. Tujuan bengkel adalah untuk menambah baik serta memantapkan lagi elemen prosedur, proses dan tempoh masa berkaitan tapisan keselamatan serta pemeriksaan latar belakang yang perlu dilaksanakan oleh pihak PDRM bagi tujuan mendapatkan permit penerbangan dron.

As a pilot, the productivity module will be introduced in Mechatronics and later expanded to other technical areas such as Electrical & Electronics, Air Conditioning, and Civil. As a way forward, a Train-the-Trainer session and a 1-day productivity workshop are also planned to ensure effective delivery. This initiative prepares future workers with the right mindset, skill sets, and competitive edge needed in high-performance industries. The upcoming Sarawak Skills Open Day (28 Oct – 1 Nov) will serve as a platform to promote this impactful initiative further. #SarawakProductive

Sunchirin Industries (Malaysia) Berhad is a leading manufacturer of automotive thermal systems, producing hoses, pipes, and insulation products for vehicle HVAC systems. As a high-volume, precision manufacturer serving major automotive OEMs, the company depends on strict quality control, efficient production, and full material traceability. During the Gemba visit at Sunchirin’s plant, the team conducted a comprehensive walkthrough of key production areas to assess digital maturity and operational challenges. Emphasis was placed on the current state of process data visibility, quality management, and equipment maintenance practices. The company showed interest in deploying AI for machine monitoring, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics to reduce downtime and enhance product quality. The evaluation identified key opportunities in leveraging existing data infrastructure and integrating AI solutions.

The session was chaired by YBhg. Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry), MITI, and attended by representatives from MPC, MATRADE, and MWZ Consortium Sdn Bhd. The primary objective was to obtain a comprehensive update from MWZ Consortium regarding their current involvement and planned activities for the IKN project. Ar Mustapha Kamal Zulkarnain, Head of Master Planning Division, provided a detailed briefing on the latest developments and status of the project. At present, MWZ has established a foreign-owned Indonesian entity, PT MWZ Nusantara Madani. Plus, Office of IKN (OIKN) has approved PT MWZ Nusantara Madani’s request for 1,000 hectares of land and has conducted an initial preview of the proposed site location within IKN in March 2025. In the mean time, the consortium had reached numbers of potential developers and financial institutions to be part of the journey due to its Investor-Ready Structures which provide complete feasibility studies, investment memorandums, ESG due diligence, and capital structuring for scalable and replicable outcomes. Moving forward, the consortium will expedite the land acquisition process, finalize strategic partnerships with developers and financial institutions, and prepare a detailed project timeline. Regular updates will be shared with MITI, MPC, and MATRADE, alongside conducting further site assessments with OIKN and initiating regulatory and ESG compliance processes.

JK Wire Harness Sdn Bhd, a tier-1 vendor in the automotive industry, manufactures wire harnesses that are essential for vehicle electrical and electronic systems. The company already has ERP and EMS systems in place, providing a strong foundation of operational and environmental data. Under the AI Transformation Programme, JK Wire will be adopting simple yet effective AI tools tailored to its needs. These tools will leverage existing data from the ERP and EMS systems to perform AI-driven data analytics—enabling smarter decision-making without the need for costly new infrastructure. Through this approach, the programme has the potential to help the company avoid up to RM3 million in investment that would otherwise be required for advanced analytics solutions. Moving forward, JK Wire will pilot AI solutions focused on quality improvement and productivity gains, while maximizing value from its existing ERP and EMS systems.

The third DPN Governing Committee Meeting for 2025 was held at SME Corp. Malaysia, chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Wei Chuan Beng, Champion of DPN. He shared key insights from China’s New Quality Productive Forces (NQPF) and stressed the importance of adopting similar high-productivity strategies to boost Malaysia’s capital efficiency and global competitiveness. Puan Hilyati Muhammad Nasir, Director at SME Corp., highlighted the agency’s role in accelerating digital and technology adoption among SMEs. She called for stronger ecosystem support and invited participation in SME Venture ASEAN 2025, a platform to scale productivity through innovation and market access. En. Shaifubahrim Saleh, Co-Champion of DPN, emphasised unlocking productivity through stronger industry-government synergy—via innovation learning, technology and business matching. En. Aiman Zakwan, Manager of DPN, updated on MPC’s AI Productivity Roadmap and AI Productivity Transformation Programme, which are helping businesses adopt AI for better operational efficiency. These initiatives directly contribute to Malaysia’s improvement in global competitiveness rankings. Pn. Azlina Ishak, Director of Marketing & Communications, WITSA, shared opportunities at the WITSA Global AI Summit 2025 in Taipei. She encouraged Malaysian companies to participate for global exposure, learning from AI leaders, and expanding market reach. Industry players are urged to partner, collaborate, and synergise with government initiatives to drive national productivity. By working together across sectors, Malaysia can accelerate its digital transformation and position itself as a regional leader in productivity and innovation.
