Improving the performance of Kuantan Port could involve various strategies across different aspects of its operations. Follow-up discussion with LPN was held today to deep dive and mapping the issues and challenges faced by port players. A few recommendations have been highlighted to improve the efficiency of Kuantan Port performance. As a way forward, MPC Pahang, together with LPN will be developed the roadmap to improve Kuantan Port Performance. A workshop with industry players will be organised to get their feedback and potential recommendations that will be scheduled in June 2024.

Delegasi MPC yang diketuai oleh YBrs. Dr. Mazrina Ibramsah telah mengadakan sesi libat urus bersama Bahagian Sumber Manusia, Kaneka (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd bagi memahami isu dan penambahbaikan proses permohonan pegawai dagang (expatriate). Maklumbalas yang diterima berkaitan keperluan permohonan yang berbeza-beza akan dibawa ke perhatian PEMUDAH di bawah TWGHC untuk verifikasi isu dalam memudahkan urusan perniagaan. Turut dibincangkan pada sesi ini berkenaan reformasi pasaran buruh iaitu program Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI) dan Anugerah Kecemerlangan Indusri (AKI). Kaneka berhasrat untuk turut serta dalam inisiatif ini dalam peningkatan kemahiran bakat dan Kaneka turut memanjangkan program ADI ini kepada vendor mereka. Turut serta dalam sesi ini adalah En. En. In this online meeting, MPC's technology partner, Dr. Rahmat from ShazInnovation, and representatives from Perodua joined to discuss several key agenda items. The meeting commenced with the AutoPN secretariate’s confirmation on the election on the President of Perodua Suppliers Association (P2SA) as one of the NGC members for Automotive Productivity Nexus, aiming to streamline operations and enhance collaboration within the automotive industry ecosystem. The meeting proceeded with presentation on the Report of the GEMBA Walk conducted for five companies. Dr. Rahmat presented detailed information from each company's GEMBA Walk, offering insights into their operations, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Notably, it was highlighted that some of the visited companies need assistance to sustain their operations, particularly through improvements in productivity. These reports provided valuable data for understanding industry trends, identifying best practices, and formulating strategies to drive productivity and innovation within the automotive sector.

Dr. Eugene Lin of CPC spotlighted Taiwan's thriving E&E and M&E sectors, with over 80% of SMEs embracing Industry 4.0 technologies. Lanjutan dari program Lab 1: Pembangunan Pelan Tindakan Produktiviti Agromakanan Negeri Kelantan yang telah dijalankan pada 3 Mac 2024 yang lalu, beberapa inisiatif telah dikenalpasti untuk dibawa ke peringkat seterusnya iaitu projek ternakan ayam moden, projek ternakan kambing tenusu, pertanian kontrak cili, dan tanaman padi Ladang Merdeka. Kerajaan Negeri Johor melalui Bahagian Perancang Ekonomi Negeri Johor dan Bahagian Kerajaan Tempatan telah melaksanakan sistem E-PBT Johor bermula tahun 2015 bagi meningkatkan kecekapan penyampaian perkhidmatan PBT di Negeri Johor. Satu sesi bengkel penambahbaikan sistem E-PBT Johor akan dianjurkan oleh pihak BPENJ pada bulan Mei dan pihak MPC telah dijemput berkolaborasi memberikan khidmat nasihat dan input penambahbaikan proses-proses terlibat agar penggunaan sistem E-PBT dipertingkatkan dengan lebih optimum. Bengkel ini akan berfokus kepada isu-isu penyeragaman proses kerja berkaitan kewangan dan hasil serta kecekapan sistem E-PBT untuk memenuhi keperluan penyampaian perkhidmatan bagi 16 PBT di Johor. Perbincangan di antara MPC Pahang, Agro-food Productivity Nexus (AFPN) dan associate MPC telah diadakan pada hari ini berkaitan industri penternakan ayam dan peranan pusat sembelihan di Pahang. Tujuan perbincangan ini juga adalah untuk mendapatkan pandangan dari AFPN dan kepakaran perunding dalam mengendalikan proses pemutihan rumah sembelihan. Berdasarkan perbincangan, bidang kuasa agensi pengawal selia seperti PBT, Jabatan Agama Islam Negeri, JAKIM dan Jabatan Veterinar di Pahang perlu jelas dan setiap agensi perlu memainkan peranan penting dalam pembinaan rumah sembelihan. Ini bagi memastikan semua aspek diambil kira bukan sahaja aspek halal tetapi dari segi keselamatan makanan, kebersihan, pengurusan sisa serta mendapat persijilan. DPN engaged in a discussion with Mr. Zharif from EU ERA, the writer appointed for the Digital Competitiveness Deep Dive Report. With a focus on Total Public Expenditure on Education (% of GDP) - IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking indicator, DPN commenced by providing an overview of the deep dive activities, the report's outline, and the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the writer. The report will also highlight some limitations of the study and align MPC's recent initiatives related to education. Subsequent to extensive discussions with stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education (MOE) and industry experts, the deep dive will conclude in a report documenting DPN’s preliminary findings by the end of May 2024.

The first productive meeting of the Sustainable Practices Working Group (WG) within TPN was led by Chairperson Ms. Norhafiza Shafie of UNDP. The Champion of TPN, Mr. Rohizam, introduced TPN and its five WGs for Year 2024 - 2025, emphasizing collaborative efforts to enhance Malaysia's tourism sector productivity. Discussed topics included outlining 2024 initiatives as well as drafting a timeline of potential programs. Following the Chairperson's lead, members showed support to launch an awareness campaign for the preparation of UN Tourism International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO) in Malaysia, targeting universities and local authorities to bolster engagement of Malaysian sustainable destinations worldwide. The Sustainable Tourism: Industry Champions Workshop, co-organized by TPN and UNDP Malaysia Country Office, kicked off its first day with a dynamic array of activities aimed at fostering understanding and engagement with sustainable development goals (SDGs). Participants were immersed in activities such as Connectedness and Systems Thinking, and The Triangle Game, among others that were designed to stimulate thinking about the interconnectedness of various aspects of sustainability and the SDGs. MPC delegation, led by Mr. Zahid Ismail, Director General of MPC together with Mr. Ch'ng Kieng Peng, Champion of Pharmaceutical Productivity Nexus went for a courtesy visit at Duopharma Biotech Berhad. During the visit, on-site observations of actual business operations were conducted to help identify and address challenges in the pharmaceutical industry. This immersive experience offers a firsthand understanding of the entire business process and ensuring a comprehensive view of potential issues. By collecting immediate and relevant data, it facilitates timely interventions and strategic productivity enhancements. Fruitful discussion on how implementing lean management can significantly enhance daily operational productivity to meet demand of pharmaceutical products. This industry is highly regulated, requiring strict regulations adherence to maintain the quality and safety of medicine products. Moving forward, PPN will focus its efforts on nurturing productivity growth in the subsector, collaborating closely with pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to bolster competitiveness throughout the value chain system.

A briefing session on embedded software curriculum initiative was conducted with UTM representatives to brief them about embedded software study findings and proposed curriculum review. As of now, a total of 8 universities have been briefed about this initiative. The secretariate received positive feedbacks from these universities and will continue the work by devising curriculum mapping to map the proposed curriculum to the existing modules / programs by participating universities. Moving forward, the taskforce will identify curriculum coverage and gaps for the embedded software talents. Resources will be identified to help close out the gap and execute the enhanced curriculum. MPC SRO telah berkongsi Amalan Baik pelaksanaan Ladang Ternakan Ayam tertutup negeri Perak, Pulau Pinang dan Selangor yang akan dijadikan input bagi merangka kertas cadangan reformasi urusan pembangunan ladang ternakan ayam moden di negeri Johor. Bengkel kedua ini yang akan dilaksanakan pada bulan Jun 2024 untuk memperincikan kertas cadangan tersebut melibatkan pihak berkepentingan seperti DVS, PTG Johor, BKT, PBT, BPEN dan persatuan penternak di Negeri Johor. MPC Negeri Kelantan telah membuat pemantauan di tapak projek pertanian kontrak ladang cili bagi melihat keadaan sebenar kerja-kerja pembersihan dan meratakan tanah berdasarkan kemajuan semasa. Proses membersih dan merata tanah yang berkeluasan 10 ekar ini sedang dijalankan oleh pemilik tanah, Kelantan Biotech Corporation Sdn Bhd sejak 20 Februari 2024 dan dijangka mengambil masa beberapa bulan di atas faktor geografi dan keadaan asal tanah. The project, proposed by Malaysia under the APEC Economic Committee (EC) fora, aims to assess awareness and explore agile regulatory approaches that foster innovation and promote economic growth within APEC economies. Additionally, an implementation toolkit will be developed to help governments and regulators self-assess how their governance approach is performing compared to agile regulation principles. Satu sesi strategik pengarah MPC Wilayah Selatan bersama PANASONIC SYSTEM NETWORK Sdn. Bhd yang diketuai oleh En. Pang Kin Wah, Pengarah Eksekutif, telah diadakan di pejabat MPC Wilayah Selatan di mana sesi ini bertujuan bagi meneroka potensi kolaborasi antara MPC dan PANASONIC dalam inisiatif peningkatan produktiviti yang sedang dilaksanakan oleh MPC iaitu program Academy in Industry (AiI). Sesi ini turut melibatkan wakil dari MPC Ibu Pejabat dan perbincangan bertumpu kepada strategi dalam pelaksanaan program bersama PANASONIC dimana terdapat keperluan sebanyak hampir 200 pekerja baharu dengan objektif mengurangkan kebergantungan kepada pekerja asing.

DPN and SIRIM Industrial Research (IR) engaged in a productive discussion on the preparation for the second governing committee meeting of DPN at SIRIM Smart Manufacturing Experience Centre (SMEC). Serving as the host for this meeting, SIRIM IR provided an overview of SIRIM's background, services, and facilities. The discussion also includes arrangements for the meeting room and logistics. Additionally, SIRIM IR conducted a tour of its's facilities and laboratories, including the Smart Manufacturing Experience Centre (SMEC) and the 3D Scanning Lab. The facilities tour is anticipated to be one of the main highlights of the event, which is tentatively scheduled for June 2024

Perbincangan produktif bersama pihak DBKU untuk membincangkan pelaksanaan BI. Sesi perbincangan ini telah dipengerusikan oleh Pn. Kartini Haji Bushra, Timbalan Pengarah, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Korporat. Pihak MPC telah membentangkan konsep dan rangka kerja PRIME dalam melaksanakan inisiatif BI yang merupakan pendekatan berdasarkan evidence based dan data driven dalam usaha untuk memperkasakan penyampaian peraturan. Pengarah DBKU bersetuju dengan cadangan kerjasama bersama MPC dan menyokong penuh projek rintis BI dijalankan. Projek Rintis BI ini akan memfokuskan kepada isu pemasalahan pembayaran kompaun DBKU. Sesi perbincangan produktif di antara MPC dan FAMA telah diadakan bagi membincangkan hala tuju pelaksanaan Program Smart Farming kepada ahli FAMA. Hasil perbincangan, kedua-dua pihak telah bersetuju untuk melaksanakan projek rintis bagi 4 komoditi terpilih iaitu Pisang Sabah, Pomelo Sabah, Kelapa Tua Tempatan dan Roselle. Aktiviti seterusnya adalah untuk mengenalpasti pernyataan masalah yang dihadapi oleh pihak industri bagi komiditi terpilih tersebut dan mencadangkan penambahbaikan melalui penggunaan teknologi. Seterusnya mengukur keberkesanan pelaksanaan teknologi tersebut bagi meningkatkan produktiviti dan saing petani.

The session focused on establishing a strategic partnership to implement the Productivity Improvement Programme tailored for SMEs operating within specific sectors. It was agreed to initiate a pilot programme targeting approximately 20 SMEs aimed at enhancing their business excellence. HRD Corp proposed that the selected sectors for this initiative include wholesale, retail, construction, and professional subsectors. MPC, facilitated by the PS 5.0 framework, will oversee the certification process for all participating companies upon the programme's completion, scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
