Industry Collaboration Discussion On Enhancing Human Capital In The Pharmaceutical Sector
Strengthening Talent Development Through Strategic Public-Private Synergies
Pharmaceutical Productivity Nexus (PPN) and Malaysian Organisation of Pharmaceutical Industries (MOPI) recently held a constructive discussion with Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) to explore the MyMahir – Future Skilled Talents Council (FSTC) initiative. The session, led by PPN Champion Mr. Chng Kien Peng, marked an important milestone in aligning industry needs with national talent development strategies, especially for high-skilled sectors.
TalentCorp presented the objectives and framework of MyMahir-FSTC, which focuses on fostering collaboration between government, industry, and academia to identify both current and future talent demands. The initiative aims to bridge the mismatch between talent supply and industry demand, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled professionals for Malaysia’s priority sectors.
As part of the initiative, a structured needs assessment will be conducted to map job roles, identify critical skills gaps, and understand hiring challenges. This will provide valuable insights to guide future workforce strategies and help develop targeted programmes that prepare talent for real-world industry needs.
MOPI will be a key member of the committee under the Pharmaceutical Council, ensuring that talent development aligns with industry requirements. PPN will actively support this initiative, aiming to enhance productivity by fostering a more skilled and capable workforce in the pharmaceutical sector.

The Chemical Productivity Nexus (CPN) convened a strategic meeting with HRDCorp to advance the implementation of the UNECE-ADR Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) programme. In this session, HRDCorp announced the approval of a Special Grant application to support the training and certification of approximately 45 Safety and Health Officers (SHOs) registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). This targeted funding will enhance accessibility for SMEs by covering critical expenses such as training fees, certification costs, and logistical support. The initiative complements the progress made to date, where 26 professionals from the chemical industry and relevant regulatory bodies have successfully attained DGSA certification through this internationally recognized programme. It also reflects Malaysia’s broader commitment to developing a safety-driven and competent workforce, particularly in the handling and transport of dangerous goods. As a next step, CPN will engage with the appointed DGSA Training Provider to finalize training arrangements and ensure alignment with HRDCorp’s grant requirements, reinforcing the consistent nationwide adoption of UNECE-ADR standards across the chemical sector.
