A courtesy visit between the China Association of Automation (CAA) and the Machinery and Engineering Industries Federation (MEIF) was held recently at MPC Kuala Lumpur, marking a positive step towards closer collaboration between the two organisations. The meeting centered around CAA’s key focus areas in automation and digital transformation, with discussions also exploring potential collaboration opportunities with MEIF. Both parties expressed strong aspirations to work together in advancing technological capabilities and promoting industrial growth across the machinery and engineering sectors. The visit laid the groundwork for future partnerships aimed at strengthening industry innovation and productivity.

The recent meeting focused on reviewing the progress of ongoing initiatives under MEPN Working Group 4. A key highlight of the session was the introduction of a new project titled THINK: M&E (Tools for Hands-on Industrial Knowledge). The initiative targets aspiring or early-stage SMEs in machining, fabrication, or design—especially Tier 2 to Tier 4 suppliers. THINK aims to provide structured support for companies poised to adopt CAD/CAM or digital shop floor tools, helping them transition at a critical stage of operational growth. The session concluded with a strong call to action, inspiring participants to leverage A.I. solutions in fostering innovation and strengthening organizational productivity. This initiative marks another important step towards building a future-ready, digitally empowered nation.

The A.I. Transformation Class 1 was successfully completed with the participation of 18 attendees representing 9 companies, marking a strong start to the programme. Organized by the Automotive Productivity Nexus (AutoPN) in strategic collaboration with Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Berhad (Perodua), this class aims to build AI competencies, enhance productivity, and embed a culture of continuous improvement within the automotive ecosystem. The module was developed in response to Perodua’s emphasis on the critical need for accurate data collection, a foundation for driving productivity improvements across the intended ecosystem.
