MPC Empowers Industries In Sarawak Towards High Productivity And Global Competitiveness Through PSIEA 2025
21 April 2025, Kuching – The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), in strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) and the Sarawak Government, remains committed to enhancing productivity and industrial excellence through the organisation of the Premier of Sarawak Industry Excellence Awards (PSIEA) 2025, now in its fifth edition.
With the theme “Environmental, Sustainability, Economic Prosperity and Inclusive Society”, PSIEA 2025 was officially launched today at the Auditorium of TEGAS Digital Village, Sama Jaya High Tech Park. The event was officiated by YB Datuk Malcom Mussen Lamoh, Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment of Sarawak, representing YBhg Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak.
Held biennially since 2017, PSIEA provides participating industries with the opportunity to represent Sarawak at the national level through the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI), administered by the Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI).
Dr Mazlina Shafi’i, Director of MPC Sarawak, stated, “Participating industries will be divided into four categories: micro, small, medium and large. Using the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) – the same assessment criteria used for the Industry Excellence Award (AKI) – these industries will be evaluated within their categories and awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze accordingly.”
She further noted, “This award aims to identify best practices among industries in Sarawak that contribute to the state’s economic development and serve as role models, inspiring healthy competition and motivation within the local business community.”
She added, “I urge all entrepreneurs and industries in Sarawak to take the first step towards business excellence as part of our collective efforts to create more excellent and competitive organisations. Aligned with the competitiveness framework that measures business efficiency through organisational agility, I believe this award will serve as a catalyst to promote the Business Excellence (BE) concept among industries in Sarawak and build a stronger BE community.”
PSIEA is a prestigious award that enhances the image and reputation of participating industries while promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Industries participating in PSIEA will undergo comprehensive assessments and gain valuable insights into their strengths and areas for improvement, enabling them to compete more effectively at national and international levels.
MPC Sarawak urges industries across Sarawak to participate in PSIEA 2025 to foster a culture of excellence, improve service and operational quality, strengthen customer confidence, and attract investments and new business opportunities. Furthermore, these outstanding organisations will serve as benchmarks and contribute to Sarawak’s overall economic development.
