A Global Partnership At Osaka Expo 2025 Supported By The MPC Aims To Enhance Caregiving Productivity
Osaka, Japan, 24 April 2025 – At the esteemed World Expo 2025 Osaka, the Malaysia Pavilion hosted a significant ceremony marking the exchange of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Malaysia Caregivers Association (KENDANA) Council and the Japan Well Aging Association. This landmark collaboration signifies a mutual commitment to the advancement of caregiving, the strengthening of well-being frameworks, and the pursuit of productivity improvements in Malaysia.
The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) is a key supporter of this collaboration, with a strong focus on enhancing national, sectoral, and enterprise productivity. The Director General of MPC, Datuk Zahid Ismail, stated: “This MoU is a strategic initiative to catalyse productivity improvement within the caregiving sector through targeted workforce reskilling and upskilling programmes.”
The MoU was officially executed in the presence of Mr. Rashidi Yahaya, Chairman of the KENDANA Council, and Mr. Toshihisa Ogawa, President of the Japan Well Aging Association. This agreement signifies a determined commitment to provide robust support for caregivers, empower families, and cultivate communities where ageing is treated with dignity and compassion, all while strategically prioritising productivity enhancement within caregiving services to ensure sustainable and efficient care delivery.
Director of MPC, Mr. Mohd Yazid Abdul Majid, who witnessed the signing of the MoU, said: “Aligned with Malaysia's RMK13, which focuses on developing a comprehensive LTC ecosystem and dedicated legislation to position the nation as a regional hub, this MoU will drive a projected 30% productivity improvement in five years. This will be achieved by facilitating the adoption of advanced care practices and enhancing caregiver competency, ultimately benefiting care quality and providing economic advantages.”
Malaysia and Japan are steadfast in their dedication to fostering communities that embrace age with dignity and resilience. To realise a care model that is both compassionate and highly productive, this MoU serves as a foundation for pursuing continuous improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of care through sustained dialogue, engagement, and knowledge exchange.
Under the theme "Weaving a Future in Harmony," the Malaysia Pavilion at World Expo Osaka 2025 promotes Malaysia's commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and a forward-looking future over 26 weeks. MPC seeks partnerships at this expo to explore global opportunities for productivity transformation.
