The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Northern Region Office has successfully organised the second edition of the AI Capacity Building for Enhancing Industrial Productivity programme in Penang from May to July 2025.
The initiative aimed to empower industry players with the knowledge and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate productivity and remain competitive in an increasingly digital-driven economy.
Designed specifically for the industrial sector, the programme focused on practical applications of AI technology in streamlining operations, automating routine tasks, and optimising resource use. The sessions witnessed active participation from a wide range of industries, reflecting the growing recognition of AI as a transformative enabler.
MPC Northern Region Office regional director Mohamad Azrol Mohamad Dali emphasised the urgency for industries to embrace digital transformation.
“AI technology is no longer an option — it is essential for all industries that wish to stay competitive and relevant in today’s fast-evolving landscape,” he stated.
Participants expressed deep appreciation for the programme, noting how it enhanced their understanding of AI and provided them with actionable insights to improve operational efficiency. Many shared that the ability to automate daily tasks using AI tools had already begun to positively impact their productivity.
Following the success of the sessions in Penang, MPC Northern Region will be extending the programme to other states in July and August 2025. These upcoming sessions aim to further expand the reach of AI knowledge and application to industries across the northern corridor.
The AI Capacity Building initiative is part of MPC’s continued commitment to supporting national productivity growth through innovation and digital adoption.
