Improving Productivity of Consulting Management Firms

9 February 2024, Petaling Jaya - In a monumental move aimed at boosting productivity in the management consultancy industry, the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and Lean Management Academy Sdn. Bhd. (LMA) have officially joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic alliance is geared towards elevating the performance of consulting management firms through the implementation of a pioneering certification programme for Lean methodologies.

According to Zahid Ismail, Director General of MPC, the labour productivity of the professionals' industry stands at RM 82,869, trailing the national level of RM 95,858. However, with the introduction of this strategic partnership, there is optimistic anticipation for a substantial boost, potentially doubling the performance of consulting management firms by 2025.

“The heart of this groundbreaking initiative lies in the experimentation with a certification programme, initially extended to 30 selected companies. The aim is to recognise and certify LMA's active involvement and successful implementation of the LEAN programme, a key driver of operational efficiency,” he added.

Meanwhile, the core objective of the MoU is to establish a collaborative framework wherein MPC formally acknowledges and certifies LEAN training and implementation programmes conducted by LMA. The certification will be granted as a Certified Practitioner in LEAN for the industry, endorsed by MPC.

According to Muhar Murad, Principle Consultant of LMA Sdn Bhd said that MPC, in its commitment, undertakes to provide formal recognition of LMA's LEAN programme as a bona fide training initiative for productivity improvement. In return, LMA pledges to conduct HRD Corp Claimable Courses (SBL-KHAS) Scheme LEAN programme, ensuring broader participation across sectors, including Governmental and non-HRD Corp Scheme organisations.

“This strategic partnership marks a pivotal step towards enhancing operational efficiency and productivity across industries. The collaboration between MPC and LMA is poised to set new benchmarks in Lean methodologies, unleashing a wave of positive change throughout the business landscape,” he added.
